As the seasons change, it’s time to do some spring cleaning, maintenance and get things ready for the upcoming summer season. That’s maintenance inside and outside of the home which includes your vehicle.

Perhaps you’re envisioning a fishing trip or even a trip to the lake. During this time, most of us haven’t put many miles on our vehicle and wonder if any maintenance is even necessary. But, did you know that even oil viscosity decreases with age?

Never fear, we at RPM Automotive have put together a brief list to help you get ready for the current and upcoming season.

Car Engine

It goes without saying that your car engine is the heart of your vehicle. Supporting its inner workings is detrimental for a long car life.

Change your oil at the necessary intervals. That being said, it’s also a good idea to change the oil filter. That’s what stops any of the gunk in the oil from entering your engine.

  • Cooling System:

Make sure your coolant is topped off.

  • Engine Filter:

Your engine gets its clean air through the filter. If it’s clogged with debris, the engine cannot breathe as easily. Get your filter changed regularly.

  • Leaks:

Look for leaks as you pull out from the garage or driveway, check to see if there are any oil stains or coolant spills. If there are any leaks or spills, be sure to bring it in to a mechanic.

  • Belts and Hoses:

A quick look under the hood is necessary to ensure that all the belts and hoses are sealed, and there aren’t any cracks.

  • Spark Plugs and Wires:

Regular maintenance of the spark plugs will ensure that they continue to provide the spark for the engine. Over time, it can get gunky. It may not need to be replaced, but merely cleaned out.
